- I've been using the Trumpet News Reader for Windows (wt_wsk.exe) for about a
- month now. Although I've had a few problems, nothing really strange happened
- until today. I loaded the reader to find that my "extract" button was
- missing. I tried re-running everything, but got nothing until I unzipped
- another copy of the file into my directory. So now I have my extract button
- again. What happened? Is this a demo program that blocks out certain
- functions after a certain period of time? I didn't see any such indications
- (ie, address for registration, etc.). Forgive my naivete, but am I missing
- something?
-
- Thanks,
- Chris

- Subject: Need a Windows PPP (not slip) connector for Winsock
-
- Howdy all
-
- Im in search of a Windows based PPP conector (like Trumpet Winsock) that will
- interface with all the winsock based apps.
-
- Im currently using Trumpet Winsock with all my apps but I have access to a dedicated
- PPP line and Id rather use that. (Also I really dont want to mess with packet
- drivers) :)

-
- Under the "Article" menu, either "Skip" or "Toggle" will mark an article as
- read without reading it. "Toggle" will also let you mark an article as
- unread after you have read it.
-
- I can't find any searching capability either.

-
- It DOES have a problem with Mosaic 2.0a3 and 2.0a4, I use Mosaic 2.0a2
- with the MS TCP/IP-32 (Daytona) stack and its been working great. This
- is especially true since I deleted the Lview31 viewer (which NCSA
- distributes and recommends) - it turned out to be causing almost ALL
- my GPF's, but made it look like it was Mosaic's fault. Microsoft is aware
- of the problem with Mosaic 2.0a3, and working on a solution. My guess is
- that it will be fixed soon. As a general suggestion, download a copy of
- WS_FTP - the author, John Junod, has a GREAT list of most of the
- GOOD anonymous FTP sites in the default ini file that comes with it.

-
- Its available to ANYONE, and only requires that you already have WFW 3.11.
- You become a "registered" beta user (tester) by the act of downloading it
- and installing. We get great freeware, they get free testing -AWESOME
- concept. I've been using it since the March beta first appeared, and I like
- it A LOT. There is now a beta 2 release MS TCP/IP-32 (Daytona) in the
- self-extracting archive file mtcpb2.exe. The directory path is the biggest
- hassle with getting it: /peropsys/WFW/tcpip/vxdbeta.
- Good Luck
